Italian Media Demand ‘Drastic Measures’ Despite Hamilton-Ferrari Comeback in Imola

Ferrari’s modest recovery at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, highlighted by Lewis Hamilton’s fourth-place finish, failed to satisfy the Italian media, who remain critical of the team’s direction and are calling for “drastic measures” to address ongoing performance issues.

After a disappointing qualifying session that saw both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc eliminated in Q2—starting the race from P12 and P11 respectively—Ferrari managed a respectable double points finish. Hamilton, in particular, appeared optimistic post-race, expressing hope for future podium challenges.

However, the Italian press was far from impressed. Corriere della Sera issued a harsh critique of Ferrari’s showing, publishing a lead image of a dejected fan clad in Ferrari gear and dismissing the post-race optimism from the drivers as disconnected from reality.

“These are rehearsed phrases, crafted to conceal a disappointment that has worn thin on everyone’s patience,” the publication wrote. “At this point, even the hopeful tone feels surreal—like lullabies meant to keep fans clinging to dreams rather than reality.”

The article pressed further, arguing that Ferrari’s reliance on the idea of a “comeback” masks deeper structural problems that require urgent attention.

“Yes, let’s talk about a comeback. Forza Ferrari. But the situation demands more than promises and excuses—it calls for responsibility, clarity, and perhaps radical changes,” it continued. “The leadership and technical team must acknowledge the scale of the challenges. Only then can meaningful progress be made.”

AutoRacer also painted a grim picture of Ferrari’s current form and future outlook, warning that the team’s development delays are allowing rivals to pull ahead—and that the consequences could extend into 2026.

“The reality is that while Ferrari stalls, others are moving forward,” the outlet reported. “Their response to the Q2 elimination explains why they cannot afford to give up on the SF-25 just yet. This season is already unacceptable—and it offers no comfort for the year to come.”

While Hamilton’s positive attitude suggests hope within the team, Italy’s media and fanbase are losing patience fast. Mere improvements aren’t enough—only bold, decisive action will satisfy Ferrari’s critics.
