Johnny Herbert Questions Whether Max Verstappen Will Be More Aggressive in F1 2025 Season

Former F1 driver and commentator Johnny Herbert has shared his thoughts on Max Verstappen’s approach for the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 season, speculating whether the Dutchman will adopt an even more aggressive driving style to maintain his dominance.

Verstappen, who has established himself as one of the most formidable drivers on the grid, secured his third consecutive Drivers’ Championship in 2024 with Red Bull. Known for his uncompromising racing and relentless pursuit of victory, Verstappen has often pushed the limits on the track. However, with increasing competition from rival teams and drivers, Herbert believes the pressure could lead to an even more aggressive version of the reigning champion.

Speaking in a recent interview, Herbert remarked, “Max is already one of the most aggressive drivers out there, but with the way the field is shaping up for 2025, he might need to push even harder to stay on top. The question is, will that work in his favor, or could it lead to costly mistakes?”

The 2025 season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent years, with McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes all making significant strides in car development. With Verstappen now facing challenges from a revitalized Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, a rising Oscar Piastri at McLaren, and George Russell at Mercedes, the Dutchman’s dominance may not come as easily as in previous seasons.

Herbert continued, “We’ve seen Max evolve as a driver over the years. He’s matured and learned to balance aggression with precision. But when you’re at the top, everyone is coming for you, and that can force you into situations where you have to take bigger risks. How Max handles that pressure will be fascinating to watch.”

With the 2025 season set to begin in March, all eyes will be on Verstappen as he aims to defend his title in what promises to be a thrilling and closely fought championship. Whether he chooses to double down on his aggressive style or adopt a more measured approach, Verstappen’s decisions on track will undoubtedly play a key role in the outcome of the season.
