Communication Mishap Between Leclerc and Ferrari Team Boss After Saudi GP Podium

A small but notable communication error between Charles Leclerc and his Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, has recently come to light following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The incident occurred during celebrations after Leclerc secured an important podium finish for Ferrari — their first main race podium of the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Leclerc delivered a stellar performance at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, showcasing excellent tyre management and race craft to fend off a charging Lando Norris in the final stages. Despite Ferrari facing a clear pace disadvantage compared to rivals like McLaren and Mercedes, Leclerc managed to maximize the package he was given, finishing ahead of the British driver and cementing an important result for the Scuderia.

The podium continues a strong run of form for the Monegasque driver, who has clawed his way up to fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship standings. His consistent performances have been a bright spot for Ferrari during a challenging start to the season. Impressively, Leclerc currently leads seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton — his new teammate — by 16 points after just five race weekends together.

Ferrari’s visible celebrations after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix reflected the significance of the result. For a team struggling to keep up with the likes of Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes, seeing Leclerc battling on equal footing with top talents like George Russell and Norris provided a much-needed morale boost. Ferrari remains fourth in the Constructors’ standings, but performances like Leclerc’s offer hope that the team can close the gap as the season progresses.

However, amid the jubilation, a humorous communication breakdown between Leclerc and Vasseur was captured and has since been circulating on social media. After crossing the line and securing third place, Vasseur came on the team radio to congratulate Leclerc, enthusiastically exclaiming: “Super Charles, super. Super job.”

Unfortunately, due to the deafening roar of Leclerc’s SF-25 engine, the driver struggled to hear and understand the message. Leclerc, sounding confused, responded: “I didn’t understand a thing, Fred,” highlighting how loud the car noise was inside the cockpit at that moment.

Though a minor incident, the exchange drew plenty of smiles from fans and showed the human side of the high-pressure world of Formula 1. It also underlined the importance of clear communication between driver and team, especially during key moments when emotions are running high.

As the season continues, Ferrari and Leclerc will be looking to build on this momentum. With Leclerc’s form improving and the team pushing to develop their car, the goal is to challenge McLaren and Mercedes more consistently and perhaps even steal victories if opportunities arise.

For now, Leclerc’s podium in Saudi Arabia — and the funny radio mix-up that followed — serve as a reminder that, even in the world’s most elite racing championship, not everything always goes perfectly to plan.
