Lewis Hamilton Dismisses ‘BS Noise’ About Relationship with Ferrari Engineer Riccardo Adami
Lewis Hamilton has firmly denied speculation suggesting friction with his Ferrari race engineer Riccardo Adami, labeling the rumors as unfounded and insisting their partnership remains solid.
Following the Monaco Grand Prix where Hamilton overcame a three-place grid penalty to finish fifth — the spotlight fell on his radio communications with Adami. The penalty, caused by a miscommunication during qualifying, along with a tense-sounding exchange during the race, sparked questions about possible strain in their working relationship.
However, speaking ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion was quick to set the record straight.
“There’s been a lot of talk most of it is BS,” Hamilton said. “The truth is, Riccardo and I have a great relationship. He’s fantastic to work with, and we’re constantly learning and adapting to each other.
“He’s worked with many drivers before, and we’re just fine. Sure, we have disagreements sometimes — just like anyone else in a working relationship — but we always work through them.”
Hamilton emphasized their shared goal of delivering success for Ferrari: “We’re both pushing hard to win a championship together. We’re fully committed and focused on building the team up. All that outside noise doesn’t matter. People can keep talking — it won’t change what we’re here to do.”
After the race, a radio message in which Hamilton asked, “Are you upset with me or something?” went unanswered, further fueling rumors. But Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur clarified that the silence was procedural, not personal.
“When a driver speaks between Turn 1 and Turn 3, we wait until the tunnel to respond,” Vasseur explained. “It’s not that we’re ignoring him or not paying attention — it’s simply the communication protocol we’ve agreed on for safety and clarity.”
He added that Hamilton showed no signs of frustration after the race: “We spoke afterward, and there was no issue.”
When asked if he eventually got a reply to his question, Hamilton said: “There were a few spots where we had radio issues during the race. I didn’t get all the feedback I was expecting, but we discussed it later.”
Despite early challenges in his Ferrari debut season, Hamilton remains optimistic and determined, brushing off rumors as background noise.
“We’re focused on the bigger picture,” he concluded. “What people say on the outside doesn’t affect the work we’re doing on the inside.”
