Lewis Hamilton Offers Harsh Critique After “Terrible S…read more

Lewis Hamilton did not hold back in his criticism following a challenging Spanish Grand Prix, where he ended the race in sixth place—another setback in what has become a tough debut season with Ferrari. Despite flashes of progress in qualifying, the race turned sour quickly for the seven-time world champion.

Saturday’s qualifying session had initially offered a glimmer of hope for Hamilton, as he managed to out-qualify his teammate Charles Leclerc for only the second time this season. The performance was seen as a step forward, and expectations were cautiously optimistic heading into race day. However, that optimism was short-lived as Hamilton’s race unraveled under the weight of poor strategy calls and intra-team dynamics.

From the early stages of the Grand Prix, it became evident that Leclerc had the superior race pace. Ferrari quickly issued team orders to allow the Monegasque driver to pass Hamilton and push ahead, a move that underscored the ongoing internal hierarchy within the team. Though team orders are nothing new in Formula 1, the decision seemed to further highlight Hamilton’s continued struggles to fully integrate into the Ferrari system after moving from Mercedes.

Leclerc capitalized on the opportunity, working his way through the field and eventually securing a third-place finish. His podium was aided by a well-timed safety car late in the race, which bunched the field and gave him the chance to attack. Leclerc took full advantage, overtaking several drivers and sealing a spot behind McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who finished first and second respectively.

Hamilton, by contrast, was left frustrated by both the team’s decisions and his own lack of pace during the race. He reportedly gave a candid and stern self-assessment after the checkered flag, expressing disappointment in his performance and hinting at deeper issues within the car’s setup and overall team execution. The frustration marks another difficult chapter in Hamilton’s inaugural campaign with Ferrari, a move that was expected to spark a career resurgence but has thus far failed to deliver consistent results.

As the season progresses, questions continue to mount about Ferrari’s ability to provide Hamilton with a competitive package, and whether the team can balance the dynamics between its two high-profile drivers. For now, Hamilton is left searching for answers, hoping for better results in the races to come while grappling with a season that has yet to meet his high expectations.
