Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Cleared After Post-Race Inspection at Monaco

Following the conclusion of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix, the FIA confirmed that Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari was among the cars selected for routine post-race inspection. Fuel and oil samples were collected from the British driver’s car and, after thorough analysis, were found to fully comply with all technical regulations.

Hamilton’s weekend in Monte Carlo was anything but smooth. His troubles began during qualifying, where he received a three-place grid penalty for impeding Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. This setback dropped him to seventh on the starting grid, behind Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso—a disadvantage at a circuit known for its difficulty in overtaking.

Despite the penalty, Hamilton climbed two places to finish fifth over the 78-lap race. Still, he ended the Grand Prix 51 seconds behind race winner Lando Norris, underscoring Ferrari’s struggles with pace. The contrast was even more pronounced when compared to his teammate Charles Leclerc, who finished second and brought Ferrari back to the Monaco podium with a strong home performance.

After the race, Hamilton voiced his frustration, describing a sense of disconnection and a lack of competitiveness throughout the event. He admitted to feeling out of contention from the outset and appeared perplexed by the car’s behavior and race strategy.

An awkward moment followed after the race during a team radio exchange. Upon being told of his finishing position, Hamilton thanked his race engineer Riccardo Adami—only to be met with an uncomfortably long silence. He eventually asked, “Are you upset with me or something?” prompting speculation about tension within the Ferrari camp.

Team principal Fred Vasseur later addressed the situation, clarifying that the silence was a strategic move, not a sign of internal conflict. According to Vasseur, the team had chosen to minimize radio chatter to avoid disrupting Hamilton’s focus during key moments of the race.

Although the Monaco weekend ended in disappointment for Hamilton, his car passed all FIA checks without issue. As the championship moves forward, the seven-time world champion will aim to bounce back, while Ferrari continues working to deliver consistent results across both cars—especially with Leclerc’s impressive Monaco performance highlighting the potential of the SF-25.
