BREAKING: Lewis Hamilton’s Verdict on Sainz Miami GP Clash After…read more

Lewis Hamilton has responded to Carlos Sainz’s criticism following their late-race clash at the Miami Grand Prix, calling the Ferrari driver’s overtaking attempt a “good move” despite Sainz describing the contact as “quite typical.”

The incident took place on the final lap as the pair battled for seventh place. With Hamilton just ahead, Sainz closed in and lunged up the inside at Turn 17, resulting in minor contact between the two cars. The stewards later deemed the clash a racing incident, concluding that both drivers had contributed to it—Sainz wasn’t fully alongside, while Hamilton turned in slightly earlier than usual.

After the race, Sainz suggested Hamilton had reacted to his move in a way that led to the contact. “He moved as soon as he saw me dive,” said the Spaniard. “That created contact, which I think is quite typical, honestly. If you go strictly by the rules, he moved more than he should have, but on the last lap, that’s how racing goes.”

Despite Sainz’s pointed remarks, Hamilton took a more measured tone when reflecting on the moment. While he had earlier shown frustration with Ferrari’s team orders that saw him drop behind Charles Leclerc, he acknowledged Sainz’s attempt as part of hard but fair racing.

“He went for it – it was a decent move,” Hamilton told reporters. “That’s racing. We were both pushing to the end, and these things can happen.”

With no penalties issued and both drivers moving on, the Miami Grand Prix delivered yet another flashpoint in an already feisty 2025 season.
