Verstappen, known for his fierce competitiveness, criticized the online tendency to amplify disputes, calling out “idiots” on social media for spreading unnecessary negativity.
In an interview, Verstappen explained that his friendship with Norris remains strong despite the intense battles they faced during the 2024 F1 season. “People always make it a lot worse on social media. There are a lot of idiots on that platform who always have something to say or complain about,” Verstappen said. He clarified that while they may have experienced tense moments during races, these instances have not affected their personal rapport off the track. “Lando and I get on very well. Of course, at times, it got a bit heated on track, but that’s just part of racing.”
The pair’s rivalry was particularly evident during events such as the Austrian Grand Prix, where an on-track collision sparked widespread discussion among fans and analysts. However, Verstappen downplayed any lingering animosity, stating, “You’re fighting for a World Championship. I think it’s normal that these kinds of things can happen, but we’re good.
