Max Verstappen’s Racing Team Disqualified After Official Re…read more

In a stunning turn of events, Max Verstappen’s racing team, Red Bull Racing, has been officially disqualified from the recent Grand Prix following an extensive review by Formula 1’s governing body, the FIA. The decision came late Monday evening after investigators uncovered technical irregularities with the car’s rear wing setup, which was found to be in violation of F1’s strict aerodynamic regulations.

Verstappen, who had originally crossed the finish line first, now sees his victory annulled, with rival Charles Leclerc of Ferrari being promoted to race winner.

According to the FIA report, Red Bull Racing’s RB21 was fitted with a rear wing element that provided an illegal aerodynamic advantage, breaching Article 3.6.3 of the technical regulations. The stewards emphasized that while the infringement was minor, it provided a measurable performance benefit.

Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing’s Team Principal, expressed disappointment but accepted the ruling. “While we respect the FIA’s decision, we maintain that the advantage gained was negligible and not intentional. However, we will not be appealing and will focus on the next race,” Horner stated in a press conference.

The disqualification not only affects Verstappen’s standing in the drivers’ championship but also tightens the constructors’ title race significantly, with Ferrari and Mercedes now closing the gap on Red Bull.

The incident has sparked heated debate across the paddock, with some praising the FIA for strict enforcement, while others argue that such marginal infractions should not lead to full disqualifications.

As the championship battle intensifies, all eyes will now turn to the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, where Verstappen will look to bounce back from this controversial setback.
