Mercedes Announce George Russell Will NOT P..read more
George Russell has firmly dismissed any suggestion of a Mercedes exit, stating he’s “not going anywhere” despite swirling rumours linking Max Verstappen with a sensational switch to the Silver Arrows. The British driver, whose contract runs through the end of 2025, confirmed that talks are ongoing but reassured fans that a new deal is likely to be signed soon.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has also backed Russell, insisting their relationship remains strong and that Russell remains a central figure in the team’s long-term plans.
Speculation intensified following reports that Mercedes are aggressively pursuing Verstappen for 2026, potentially at Russell’s expense. However, Russell was quick to shut down the noise, adding: “The probability of me leaving is exceptionally low.”
While the Verstappen situation remains fluid, Russell has made it clear he isn’t in talks with any other team and expects Mercedes to finalise his future in the coming weeks.
Bottom Line:
Despite the Verstappen buzz, George Russell and Mercedes both remain committed to a continued partnership beyond 2025.
