PREMA Racing has announced Gabriele Mini as one of the replacements for departing Formula 2 drivers Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman.
Both drivers, part of the Mercedes and Ferrari junior programs respectively, are moving to Formula 1 full-time for the 2025 season after competing in F2 during 2024.
Antonelli, a Mercedes protégé, had an impressive season, finishing sixth in the standings with two race wins.
Bearman, backed by Ferrari, secured three sprint race victories and ended the season in 12th place.
Their performances in F2, along with strong F1 test results, earned them promotions to the top tier of motorsport.
Bearman will join Haas, while Antonelli faces the immense challenge of replacing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, where he will partner George Russell.
The departure of these rising stars has left two vacancies at PREMA’s F2 team for the 2025 season.
Alpine Academy driver Gabriele Mini has been confirmed as one of the new additions.
Mini previously made his F2 debut with PREMA in 2024 during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, stepping in for Bearman, who was substituting for Kevin Magnussen in Formula 1 that weekend.
Mini, who demonstrated strong performances throughout the 2024 Formula 3 season with PREMA, expressed his excitement about securing a full-time F2 seat.
Reflecting on his prior experience with the team, Mini said, “I’m very happy to continue with PREMA in FIA F2.
Our potential and speed in Formula 3 were excellent, and the run in Baku showed what we can achieve.
Preparations for 2025 are already underway, and the early signs are promising.”
PREMA has yet to announce Mini’s teammate for the upcoming season, but the team is optimistic about building on the momentum from previous years.
Mini aims to contend at the front of the F2 championship, leveraging his experience and the strong foundation established with PREMA.
