Michael Schumacher health mystery deepens as former teammate…read more
The health and whereabouts of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher continue to spark speculation, with recent reports about his attendance at his daughter Gina-Maria’s wedding being dismissed by a close friend.
Schumacher, 55, has remained out of the public eye for over a decade following a skiing accident in 2013 that left him with a severe brain injury. His family, led by his devoted wife Corinna Schumacher, has kept his condition intensely private, limiting access to close friends and associates.
Rumors suggested that the seven-time world champion attended Gina-Maria’s wedding to equestrian Iain Bethke at the family’s €32 million Majorcan villa on September 28. Guests were allegedly instructed to leave their phones behind to ensure Schumacher’s privacy. However, Johnny Herbert, Schumacher’s former Formula One teammate and Le Mans winner, has publicly debunked these claims. Speaking to Flashscore, Herbert called the reports “fake news” and emphasized that Schumacher’s condition makes such public appearances highly improbable.
“It will always be a closed shop,” Herbert stated. “The most recent rumor was that he attended his daughter’s wedding. Unfortunately, from what I understand, that was all fake news with no truth in it.”
Medical experts have echoed these doubts. Neurosurgeon Jussi Posti has previously explained that Schumacher’s condition, as widely speculated, would make it extremely challenging for him to leave home, let alone attend events. “If a hospital has essentially been built in his house, with everything medicalized around him, it suggests he spends most of his time under intense care,” Posti told Iltalehti.
Reports indicate that Schumacher’s injuries have left him bedridden, leading to significant physical frailty and stiffness. Prolonged immobility can cause severe muscular atrophy, making even small movements nearly impossible after years of inactivity. While Schumacher has reportedly been transported between the family’s homes in Switzerland and Mallorca, experts argue that such movements are medically supervised and rare.
The ongoing mystery surrounding Schumacher’s health underscores the family’s efforts to maintain his dignity and privacy. Fans worldwide continue to show unwavering support for the Ferrari icon, even as conflicting stories about his life occasionally emerge. As Herbert noted, the truth about Schumacher’s condition remains known only to those closest to him, ensuring his recovery journey stays shielded from public scrutiny.
