Breaking news: after quarraling with his head coach stormers key player depart….
This year, dynamic loose forward Hacjivah Dayimani has become a hot topic among Springbok fans on social media, though the national coaches still see him as not quite ready.
At 26, Dayimani has not been invited to the Springbok alignment camps this year, indicating he is not in Rassie Erasmus’ immediate plans. Consequently, he has decided to seek new opportunities elsewhere.
Dayimani is reportedly close to joining Top 14 giant Racing 92, where Siya Kolisi also plays. Although the move hasn’t been confirmed, it appears to be imminent.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Dayimani is one of 15 players leaving the Stormers at the end of the season. Stormers coach John Dobson explained to Rugby365.com that the club did not want to hinder his progress.
“We told him that if he had a life-changing opportunity, we wouldn’t stand in his way due to his responsibilities and dependents. He leaves with our blessings and hopefully returns one day.”
HACJIVAH DAYIMANI EMBARKS ON A NEW CAREER PATH
At 26, Dayimani is at a crucial point in his career where enhancing his skills in a new environment could be beneficial.
A move overseas could provide the challenge he needs, similar to how Cheslin Kolbe, Andre Esterhuizen, and Thomas du Toit improved their game abroad.
Dayimani still has a chance to re-enter the Springbok selection over the next four years, and his overseas progress will be closely watched.
WHO ELSE IS LEAVING THE STORMERS?
Other players departing the Stormers include props Lee-Marvin Mazibuko, Leon Lyons, and Kwenzo Blose, centres Mnombo Zwelendaba, Cornel Smit, and Chris Hollis, hooker Chad Solomon, veteran scrumhalf Godlen Masimla, flyhalf Kade Wolhuter, loose forwards Jarrod Taylor and Simon Miller, and outside back Tristan Leyds.
