BREAKING NEWS: Alpine Announce EXIT of Team Principal Oliver Oakes in Shock S…read more

In a surprising development, the Alpine Formula 1 team has announced the immediate departure of Team Principal Oliver Oakes following the conclusion of the Miami Grand Prix. The 37-year-old, who took over from Bruno Famin midseason last year, has stepped down after just 10 months in charge.

Oakes made headlines in 2024 by becoming the second-youngest team principal in Formula 1 history, following Red Bull’s Christian Horner, who took on the role in 2005. However, his tenure at the helm of the Enstone-based team has now come to an abrupt end.

An official statement from Alpine confirmed the move:
“BWT Alpine Formula One Team announces that Oliver Oakes has resigned from his role as Team Principal. The team has accepted his resignation with immediate effect.”

The team further revealed that Flavio Briatore, who currently serves as Alpine’s Executive Advisor, will assume Oakes’ responsibilities in addition to his advisory role.
“As of today, Flavio Briatore will continue as Executive Advisor and will also be covering the duties previously performed by Oliver Oakes. The team would like to thank Oliver for his efforts since he joined last summer and for his contribution in helping the team secure sixth place in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship.”

The announcement comes amid growing speculation of further personnel changes within Alpine, with reports suggesting that reserve driver Franco Colapinto could replace Jack Doohan in the main lineup. The team has yet to confirm any changes to their driver roster.

Alpine now enters a pivotal phase, with management reshuffles and driver decisions potentially shaping their trajectory for the remainder of the 2025 F1 season.
