Events United Celebrates Teddy Swims’ Deck The Hall Ball with CHAUVET Professional Lighting
Events United recently celebrated the success of Teddy Swims’ Deck The Hall Ball concert, where the use of CHAUVET Professional lighting fixtures played a crucial role in bringing the show to life. The event was supported by an impressive array of 82 CHAUVET Professional fixtures from Events United’s own inventory. The lighting setup included 64 fixtures from the Maverick family—comprising MK2 Spot, MK2 Wash, Force 2 Profile, Storm 2 Beam, and Storm 1 Wash—along with 10 COLORado PXL Bars, and 16 STRIKE 4 wash-blinders.
Fahey, part of the Events United team, explained the design choices for the lighting rig, emphasizing the strategic use of various fixtures for the show. “For this event, we used the Chauvet Strike 4, Storm 1 Wash, Storm 1 Beam, and Force 2 Profile fixtures for audience lighting,” Fahey said. “The combination of these fixtures provided our lighting director, Meg Fiske, and Teddy Swims’ touring lighting designer, the flexibility to create diverse color palettes and textures throughout the performance.”
The lighting arrangement was meticulously planned to ensure the concert balanced both dynamic energy and intimate moments. Fahey praised Fiske’s skillful work, noting that she consistently excels in handling lighting rigs, delivering outstanding results. The versatility of the fixtures allowed for a visually captivating show, showcasing the adaptability and impact of the CHAUVET fixtures.
A dedicated team from Events United ensured the flawless execution of the lighting and video components for the concert. The team included Stage Manager Joel Pelletier, Light Technicians Ryan Lane and Zach Dafeldecker, LED/Playback Technician Felipe Bida, Monitor Technician Trifon Athnos, and David Bickel on patching. Their collaborative efforts resulted in a lighting design that struck a perfect balance between power and warmth, enhancing the audience’s experience.
One of the notable features of the lighting design was the use of varied trim heights on the 60-foot wide by 40-foot deep stage. The heights of the lighting and video fixtures ranged from 20 to 25 feet, with fixtures on the upstage truss and two side structures positioned to frame the video wall. This design strategy created a “light-box effect,” which not only focused the audience’s attention on the stage but also generated a warm, inviting ambiance throughout the venue. Amber-colored audience lighting further contributed to this cozy atmosphere.
Fahey explained the importance of this lighting arrangement: “We trimmed the upstage fixtures so that everything downstage was positioned slightly higher, allowing the audience to see the full lighting rig. When the rig is trimmed like this, it not only maximizes the range of motion for the fixtures, but it also fills the room with light, making the space feel more immersive.”
The attention to detail in the lighting design and the effective use of CHAUVET Professional fixtures ensured that Teddy Swims’ Deck The Hall Ball was a memorable event for all in attendance. The lighting not only enhanced the visual experience but also contributed to creating a welcoming atmosphere, blending high-energy performances with a sense of intimacy.
As a result of the careful planning and expert execution by Events United’s team, the concert successfully captivated the audience with stunning visuals, reinforcing the important role that lighting design plays in live music experiences. With the use of CHAUVET Professional fixtures, Events United continues to set the standard for lighting design in large-scale events.
