Braves’ Brian Snitker ejected following animated argument with umpires

During the Atlanta Braves’ 10-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Friday, manager Brian Snitker found himself ejected from the game in the second inning and subsequently voiced his discontent with the umpiring decisions.

Despite the Braves’ dominant performance, highlighted by home runs from Matt Olson and Austin Riley, Snitker’s evening took an unexpected turn when he was ejected for disputing a call. The disagreement arose when umpires initially ruled a ball hit by Olson off the left-field wall as foul, only to later reverse the call to fair. This decision led to runners being placed on first and second bases.

Snitker argued that given the speed of Ronald Acuna Jr., who was on first base at the time, he should have advanced to third base instead of being restricted to second.

While acknowledging that the umpires ultimately made the correct call regarding the ball’s fair status, Snitker disagreed with their judgment in placing the runners on the bases. He expressed his frustration after the game, stating, “They got the call right, but I don’t think they placed the runners in the right spot. You have one of the fastest guys in Major League Baseball at first, and you’re going to put him at second base on a ball down the line off the wall? I would have been okay if they would have scored him. That’s judgment, and I didn’t agree with it.”
