Apple TV+ members will be able to watch “Friday Night Baseball,” a weekly doubleheader, on Fridays during the 2024 regular season, according to an announcement made by Apple and Major League Baseball (MLB). Over 26 weeks, fans in 60 nations and regions can watch two highly anticipated contests without any restrictions on local broadcasts. On Friday, March 29, 2024, the first weekend of the 2024 season, “Friday Night Baseball” will debut, with some of the biggest names in baseball taking center stage. The New York Yankees, led by Aaron Judge and including Juan Soto, will take on the Houston Astros starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. And the Los Angeles Dodgers, led by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, will host the St. Louis Cardinals starting at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Additionally, Apple and MLB launched “Friday Night Baseball.”The first half of the season’s game schedule is available through June 28.
“We are thrilled to present to viewers an amazing new season of “Friday Night Baseball” on Apple TV+,” stated Eddy Cue, senior vice president of services at Apple. “We have an incredible group of talented broadcasters returning to bring fans closer to the games every week, and an outstanding lineup of games for Apple TV+ subscribers to watch across all of their favorite devices.”
The outstanding group of broadcast talent from the previous season returns to the announcer booths for “Friday Night Baseball,” including play-by-play leader Wayne Randazzo, analyst Dontrelle Willis, sideline reporter Heidi Watney, play-by-play leader Alex Faust, analyst Ryan Spilborghs, and sideline reporter Tricia Whitaker. Former MLB umpires Dale Scott, Brian Gorman, and Ted Barrett will all break
weekly calls and regulations. Each week, announcers will receive their game assignments.
Russell Dorsey, a baseball journalist, and Xavier Scruggs, a former MLB player and analyst, join Lauren Gardner in hosting live pre- and postgame coverage. The pregame show for “Friday Night Baseball,” which will preview the games between the Cardinals and Dodgers and the Yankees and Astros, will be broadcast live from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on March 29. The show will include exclusive player interviews and other features. Live pregame coverage will be provided from a number of stadiums during the season. On May 3, pregame coverage will be broadcast from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia to preview the Giants vs. Phillies and Blue Jays vs. Nationals games.
