Denny Hamlin issues worrying health update…… read more.

Veteran NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin recently opened up about a nagging injury that continues to affect him months after the 2025 Cup Series season began. Despite having already secured a playoff spot with a victory at Martinsville, Hamlin expressed concern over a wrist injury sustained during the opening race of the season at Daytona.

During a candid conversation on his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin was joined by fellow NASCAR star Kyle Busch. The pair, known for their long-standing friendship and rivalry, engaged in a light-hearted back-and-forth about past races and missed podcast appearances. Hamlin playfully accused Busch of dodging a prior invitation to appear on the show following an incident at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2024.

“You dodged me for a year,” Hamlin joked. “I think you were supposed to be on here after Indy of last year? You wrecked my ass… you were inside of me and lost control.” The two drivers laughed as they revisited the crash, with Hamlin initially believing Busch had been avoiding responsibility for the incident.

However, Busch revealed that his absence wasn’t due to ducking accountability but rather because of an injury of his own. He had been dealing with a wrist problem that impacted his availability. The revelation sparked a deeper discussion between the two about the physical toll of racing and how both have had to deal with similar health issues recently.

Hamlin then shared the details of his ongoing struggle with his own injury. “I got in a wreck in Daytona this year and my wrist is still not the same,” he admitted. “In February, that’s three months now and it’s still not right.” His comments highlight the lingering nature of the injury, which continues to affect him long after the initial crash.

While Hamlin hasn’t allowed the injury to sideline his season — already achieving success by securing a win and his playoff berth — the lingering pain is clearly a concern. The 56-time Cup Series winner, who is one of NASCAR’s most successful active drivers, seemed to hint that the security of his playoff spot may have made him more comfortable admitting to his physical setback.

Busch was empathetic, recalling his own extended recovery from a wrist injury. “Mine took until about the end of the year to be right,” he said. “There’s still times when I work out that I’m like ‘hmm, it’s gonna be sore for this week’.”

Their exchange provided a rare behind-the-scenes look at how even the most seasoned drivers endure long recovery periods after crashes. Wrist injuries, in particular, are problematic for drivers who rely on quick reflexes and strength to handle the intense physical demands of NASCAR competition.

As the season progresses, Hamlin will likely continue managing his injury carefully. But with his spot in the postseason secured, he may have the flexibility to focus more on recovery without the pressure of needing immediate results.
