Ferrari issue rivals warning during ‘dramatic’ F1…read more.
Ferrari has issued a strong warning to its rivals ahead of the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix, following what team principal Frederic Vasseur described as a “dramatic” shift in the Formula 1 competitive order. After an impressive victory on home soil in Italy, Vasseur is determined to keep Ferrari’s winning momentum alive at the challenging Baku City Circuit.
This year’s Formula 1 campaign is heating up as teams prepare for the 17th round of the season in Azerbaijan, where the high-speed street circuit in Baku will test drivers and cars alike. Ferrari, fresh off a crucial victory in Monza, is aiming for yet another triumph. Charles Leclerc’s strategic one-stop race in Italy allowed him to fend off a strong challenge from McLaren and secure Ferrari’s third victory of the season. Vasseur and the team are looking to build on that success as they head to Baku.
The Baku City Circuit is known for its unique combination of long, high-speed straights and tight, twisting corners, making it one of the most complex and unpredictable tracks on the F1 calendar. Despite the challenges, Ferrari has a solid record at Baku, and it’s a circuit where Leclerc has consistently performed well. Vasseur believes this past success gives the team confidence, especially with their current form.
“The Baku street circuit has a combination of very high-speed sections and extremely twisty ones, which presents a unique set of challenges for the drivers and engineers,” Vasseur said. “In the past, we have usually been quite competitive here, and it is also one of Charles’ favourite circuits. We are on a high following the win in Monza, and we are determined to maintain this run of form.”
Ferrari’s recent performance in Italy has rejuvenated the team, and they are keen to continue that momentum in the race for the Constructors’ Championship. The Italian outfit currently trails Red Bull by 40 points, but with Red Bull’s form dipping in recent races, Ferrari sees an opportunity to close the gap and apply pressure on the reigning champions.
Vasseur is optimistic about Ferrari’s chances in Baku but is quick to acknowledge that the competition remains fierce. The Frenchman expects another close battle between the top four teams in the upcoming race. However, he is confident that Ferrari’s recent success in Monza has demonstrated their ability to execute a perfect race weekend, which will be crucial in Azerbaijan.
“We can expect another very close fight between the top four teams,” Vasseur stated. “But as I often say, our focus is on ourselves. It’s clear this is the right approach because we have seen a dramatic change in the hierarchy among the teams since the early part of the season. Our win in Italy also supports my view that how you execute the weekend, from Friday to Sunday, can play just as important a role as the actual performance level of the car.”
Ferrari’s attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing conditions on race weekends have been instrumental in their recent success. Vasseur is determined to ensure the team continues to fine-tune its strategy and maximize its performance in Baku. The Italian outfit is focused on the small details that can make a big difference in securing race victories.
Vasseur emphasized that both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will need to perform at their best if Ferrari is to secure another win. The team principal believes that by executing their strategy perfectly across the entire weekend, they can again challenge for the top spot.
“With Charles and Carlos, we will be aiming to do everything perfectly in Baku,” Vasseur continued. “The team has shown that when we execute well, we can achieve great results. We are fully focused on bringing home another strong performance for Ferrari and continuing to fight for the championship.”
In a season where the competitive order has shifted dramatically, Ferrari has emerged as a formidable contender. With the upcoming race in Azerbaijan presenting another opportunity to close the gap on Red Bull, the Italian team is determined to stay on the offensive. Vasseur’s confidence and Ferrari’s strong form will be crucial as they continue their pursuit of championship glory in one of the most thrilling and unpredictable Formula 1 seasons in recent memory.
As the teams prepare to take on the streets of Baku, all eyes will be on Ferrari to see if they can maintain their winning streak and further solidify their position as genuine title contenders.
