FIA announce outcome of McLaren and Ferrari…. read more.

The FIA has announced the results of the recent inspections conducted on McLaren and Ferrari Formula 1 cars ahead of the Imola Grand Prix. This decision follows an exciting race in Miami, where McLaren’s Oscar Piastri secured a remarkable victory, further solidifying his lead in the drivers’ championship standings.

After the race in Florida, both Piastri’s McLaren and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc were randomly selected by FIA officials for thorough inspections. The focus of the checks on McLaren was the wheel bodywork assemblies. According to a statement from the FIA, “All inspected components were found to be in conformance with the 2025 Formula 1 Technical Regulations,” indicating that McLaren’s car met all necessary specifications.

On the other hand, Leclerc’s Ferrari underwent a detailed examination of its steering wheel assembly, clutch operating device, and electronic submissions. Fortunately for the Scuderia, all components were also confirmed to comply with the regulations, alleviating concerns following previous issues earlier in the season.

Leclerc faced significant setbacks this season due to a post-race inspection at the Chinese Grand Prix, where his car was determined to be underweight. A similar fate befell his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, who was found to have excessive wear on the skid block during the same race. These incidents led to considerable frustration within the Ferrari team and generated embarrassment in the garage, as both drivers aimed for better performances throughout the championship.

Despite their aspirations to compete for the world drivers’ title this year, Ferrari has struggled to keep pace with their competitors, particularly McLaren. The gap in the constructors’ championship has widened significantly, with McLaren leading by a staggering 152 points after just six races. This situation has made it increasingly unlikely for Ferrari to reclaim the championship from McLaren, as they face challenges in both performance and reliability.

As the teams prepare for the upcoming Imola Grand Prix, the outcome of these inspections serves as a relief for McLaren and Ferrari, allowing them to focus on their performance on the track. With the championship race heating up, both teams will be looking to improve their standings and close the gap on their rivals, as the season continues to unfold. The upcoming races will be crucial for Ferrari, as they seek to regain their competitive edge and challenge for the titles they desperately want to secure.
