FIA Rejects Red Bull’s Protest Against George Russell After Miami Grand Prix

In a dramatic post-race development, the FIA has officially rejected Red Bull Racing’s protest against Mercedes driver George Russell following the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. The protest centered on an alleged breach of yellow flag regulations, which, if upheld, could have reshaped the race results.

Red Bull contended that Russell violated Appendix H, Article 2.5.5 b) of the International Sporting Code, claiming he failed to reduce speed adequately under yellow flag conditions. While team data showed that Russell did lift off the throttle, Red Bull argued this was insufficient to meet the requirement to “significantly reduce speed.”

However, after reviewing telemetry, video footage, and steward reports, the FIA concluded that Russell’s actions were in line with the regulations. The stewards stated that his speed reduction was “within acceptable parameters,” and no penalty was warranted.

The decision secures George Russell’s finishing position and solidifies the official race results, despite late-day tensions in the Red Bull garage.
