Kyogo suffers Celtic injury recurrence as Brendan Rodgers p.. Full details.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers provided an update on Kyogo Furuhashi after the striker was forced off during Celtic’s match against Hibernian at Easter Road. Kyogo, who has been struggling with a recurring shoulder injury, was withdrawn as a precautionary measure. The Japanese forward, who has been a key player for Celtic, felt pain in his shoulder after coming off worse from a couple of physical challenges during the game. Despite attempts to manage the issue, Kyogo was eventually replaced by Mikey Johnston late in the second half.

Rodgers explained that the decision to substitute Kyogo was made to avoid further aggravation of the injury. “He had an issue with his shoulder. Obviously the guys have tried to put it back in, but he’s felt the pain. So we didn’t want to risk that, so hopefully he’ll be okay in the next couple of days,” Rodgers told Sky Sports.

The Celtic boss is hopeful that Kyogo will recover in time for the upcoming Viaplay Cup last 16 match against Hibernian at Celtic Park. However, Rodgers also acknowledged the need for reinforcements, particularly in the striker position, as Kyogo is currently the only recognized forward in the squad.

Talks are ongoing regarding a potential deal for Norwich City striker Adam Idah. Idah, who made a substitute appearance in Norwich’s 2-0 defeat to Oxford United, has been linked with a move to Celtic. Rodgers mentioned that discussions are in progress, but he refrained from providing any concrete updates on the situation. “Hopefully [we can add to the position in the next couple of days]. It’s always been an issue for us. We concentrate on the players that are here and hopefully by the end of the window we can reinforce and strengthen the squad,” Rodgers said.

When asked specifically about Idah, Rodgers commented, “It’s ongoing. I’ve no update on it. He’s obviously a player that did really well for us last year. But he’s still a Norwich player. He came on for them yesterday so I don’t want to speak too much on that. We’ll see what the rest of the window brings.”

Rodgers’ focus remains on ensuring that his current squad is well-prepared, while also working to bring in additional players before the transfer window closes.
