Leeds United told to make ‘smart’ transfer happen after… Read More πŸ‘‡

Former Leeds United winger Lee Sharpe has urged the club to secure a deal for Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe as they seek a replacement for Crysencio Summerville. Summerville, who recently transferred to West Ham, was a standout player for Leeds last season, and his departure has left a gap in the squad that needs to be filled if Leeds are to have a successful campaign.

Sharpe believes that Rowe would be an ideal replacement for Summerville and is encouraging Leeds to finalize the transfer. Leeds had previously made an approach for the 21-year-old winger, but Norwich City turned down their initial bid. Now, with interest from Monaco also emerging, the competition for Rowe’s signature is intensifying. Another potential target for Leeds, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi of Crystal Palace, appears to be on his way to Sheffield United, further emphasizing the need for Leeds to act quickly.

In their recent 3-3 draw against Portsmouth, Leeds used Dan James and Willy Gnonto in the wide positions. Despite the team’s efforts, Sharpe feels that the performance was lacking, and that reinforcements are necessary. He noted that Leeds were fortunate to secure a point in that match, with Brenden Aaronson scoring a late equalizer and missing an opportunity to win the game in the dying moments. Sharpe emphasized that the match was a tough opener for Leeds, as newly promoted teams like Portsmouth often play with high intensity, making it easy for more established teams to slip up.

Looking ahead, Sharpe remains optimistic about Leeds’ prospects for improvement, particularly if they can bring in a player of Rowe’s caliber. Leeds are scheduled to play Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, followed by a Championship match against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. Sharpe believes that with the right additions, Leeds can build on their early performances and have a strong season.
