BREAKING NEWS: LOUISVILLE COACH HAS BREAKS SILENCE WITH 5-WORDS STATEMENT AFTER FIRING…..
Terrance Edwards, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, has committed to Louisville.
Pat Kelsey secures his initial commitment from a player outside of Charleston via the transfer portal, marking a significant acquisition for the University of Louisville. Terrence Edwards, the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year from James Madison, has visited Louisville and pledged his commitment to the Cardinals. This news was initially reported by Jeff Goodman from the Field of 68 and later confirmed by Cardinal Authority.
Arriving in Louisville after a visit to Florida State, Edwards, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 190 pounds, showcased impressive stats during the past season, averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, with a three-point shooting percentage of 34.3%.
Following his previous recognition as the Sun Belt Sixth Man of the Year, Edwards, hailing from Atlanta, elevated his performance to claim the title of Sun Belt Player of the Year this season, leading James Madison to an NCAA tournament berth. Despite the team’s loss to Duke in the NCAA Tournament’s second round, James Madison enjoyed a successful season with 32 wins.
Edwards, who completed four seasons and participated in 117 games for James Madison, boasts impressive career statistics, including 1,414 points, 525 rebounds, 278 assists, and 111 steals, with a career field goal percentage of 46.2%.
With one year of eligibility remaining, Edwards garnered interest from multiple schools, including Louisville, Florida State, Arkansas, Oregon, Tennessee, Auburn, Creighton, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Xavier, and others, following his entry into the transfer portal.
Ranked as the No. 34 prospect in the transfer portal and the No. 4 combo guard by 247Sports, Edwards becomes a pivotal addition for Kelsey, who was recently appointed as Louisville’s new coach. With a coaching career spanning 12 college seasons, including nine years at Winthrop, Kelsey has been actively pursuing targets from the transfer portal, including Edwards and Iowa guard Tony Perkins.
Louisville’s roster currently features only two players from last season who have not entered the transfer portal: Ty-Laur Johnson and Emmanual Okorafor. Most of the players in the portal remain on campus, expected to confer with Kelsey before finalizing decisions regarding their futures.
