Red Bull Strengthens Talent Pool with Nikola Tsolov Signing for 2025
Red Bull Racing has officially announced the signing of a promising young driver, further enhancing their impressive pool of talent for the 2025 season. The Milton Keynes-based team has a history of cultivating a wide range of drivers across multiple racing categories and age groups, and this new addition only strengthens their position.
In Formula 1, Red Bull already boasts a formidable lineup that includes reigning champion Max Verstappen and seasoned driver Sergio Perez, as well as Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson, who race under their secondary team, Visa Cash App RB. Beyond Formula 1, Red Bull has continued to invest heavily in nurturing young talent. They have several promising junior drivers making their way up the ranks in various formulas, particularly in Formula 2, where Isack Hadjar and Ayumu Iwasa have been making waves.
Now, the Red Bull Junior Team has welcomed an exciting new addition: 17-year-old Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov. A former Alpine junior, Tsolov’s signing represents Red Bull’s ongoing commitment to finding and nurturing future racing stars.
Tsolov made his debut in single-seater racing in 2022, and he quickly demonstrated his potential by winning the F4 Spanish Championship in his very first season. This victory put him on the radar of top racing teams and established him as one to watch. However, his subsequent move up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2023 proved to be a greater challenge. Despite the high expectations following his success in F4, Tsolov struggled to find his footing in his debut F3 season, finishing 23rd in the standings.
Despite these difficulties, his performance was strong enough for him to retain his seat with ART Grand Prix for the 2024 Formula 3 season. Over the course of this season, Tsolov has shown significant improvement. With one feature race win and two sprint race victories to his name, he currently sits 11th in the overall standings—a much-improved showing compared to his debut year. His performance has been enough to convince Red Bull to bring him into their prestigious junior driver program, a sign of their confidence in his long-term potential.
Red Bull confirmed the signing through a post on their Red Bull Junior Team Instagram account, stating, “We’re excited to welcome @nikola_tsolov to the Red Bull Junior Team 🙌.” The team added that Tsolov would be competing in Formula 3 for the 2025 season with Campos Racing. This marks another step forward in his career, as he will drive alongside talented teammates Mari Boya and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak under the Campos Racing banner.
The move to Campos Racing, a well-respected team in the junior formulas, is expected to provide Tsolov with a stable platform to continue his development as a driver. With Red Bull’s support and the experienced Campos team backing him, Tsolov will be aiming to build on his recent success in Formula 3 and make a strong push for the championship in 2025.
This signing highlights Red Bull’s continued efforts to cultivate a diverse and competitive talent pool across different racing categories. With young drivers like Tsolov joining the fold, Red Bull is ensuring they remain well-prepared for the future, with a pipeline of talent ready to step up to higher levels of motorsport, including Formula 1.
