Axed F1 star issues UPDATE on Red Bull transfer….read more
An axed Formula 1 driver has provided an update on the possibility of transferring to Red Bull in 2025.
The 2024 F1 season has been marked by several notable changes, with a number of prominent drivers losing their seats. Among those was Daniel Ricciardo, who was dismissed by AlphaTauri after the Singapore Grand Prix and replaced by rising star Liam Lawson.
Along with the reshuffling at AlphaTauri, rival teams are also placing their bets on youth for the 2025 season. Drivers such as Ollie Bearman and Gabriel Bortoleto are set to join Haas and Sauber, respectively. As a result, more experienced drivers like Kevin Magnussen and Valtteri Bottas will be leaving their current teams to make way for the next generation of talent. Unfortunately, both Magnussen and Bottas are struggling to secure seats elsewhere on the grid.
In a surprising turn, there was a brief surge of hope for Valtteri Bottas fans when his name appeared on the F1 store website alongside Red Bull merchandise. In an error on the site, Bottas’ name was listed under the same filter options as Red Bull’s star drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, fueling speculation that Bottas might be in line for a shock move to the team. The mistake led some to wonder if Bottas could replace Perez at Red Bull in 2025, following what has been a disappointing season for the Mexican driver.
Red Bull team bosses have not yet made an official decision regarding Perez’s future. Given his underperformance in the 2024 season, there has been growing speculation that the team might end his contract early, which would open up a spot in the lineup. Fans, therefore, jumped to the conclusion that Bottas might be a potential candidate to join Verstappen at Red Bull, but Bottas himself has since addressed these rumors.
In a statement, Bottas clarified that there is no truth to the speculation about a potential Red Bull transfer. The Finnish driver, who spent several successful years with Mercedes before moving to Alfa Romeo, confirmed that he is not in talks with the reigning champions for a move in 2025. Bottas explained that while he has a strong relationship with Red Bull and respects their success, there are no discussions happening about him joining the team in the near future.
The mix-up on the F1 store website was merely an error and should not be interpreted as a sign of a potential transfer. Bottas, who has been a steady presence in the sport for many years, appears to be focusing on his current position with Alfa Romeo, as the team is in the process of building for the future. Despite the intrigue surrounding his potential move, it seems that Bottas’ immediate future will not include a switch to Red Bull.
As the 2025 season approaches, many eyes will be on Red Bull as they assess the performance of Perez and consider possible replacements. While Bottas may not be in the running, the possibility of a change in their driver lineup remains a key talking point as F1 fans and pundits alike try to predict who will partner Verstappen in the coming years.
