Disaster Strikes as Lewis Hamilton Suffers Major Blow as Late Crash Triggers Red Flag Chaos in Miami Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton’s hopes for a strong result at the Miami Grand Prix were shattered in brutal fashion after a dramatic late-race crash brought out the red flag and sent shockwaves through the paddock.

The seven-time world champion, who had been running in the top five and pushing for a podium finish, lost control of his Ferrari in the closing laps of the race. Onboard footage and replays showed the car snapping mid-corner at Turn 14 before slamming into the barriers at high speed, ripping off the front wing and scattering debris across the circuit.

The incident immediately brought out the red flag, halting the race with only a handful of laps remaining and plunging the final standings into chaos. Hamilton appeared uninjured as he climbed out of the wreckage, but the damage to both his car and championship hopes may be far harder to recover from.

“It’s just gutting,” Hamilton said in a brief post-crash interview. “We were in the fight today. The car felt good, and I gave it everything. I made a mistake, and I own that — but it hurts.”

Ferrari engineers were seen inspecting the car in silence, with team principal Frédéric Vasseur visibly frustrated as mechanics rushed to assess the full extent of the damage. With Charles Leclerc already out of contention earlier in the race, Ferrari’s day in Miami quickly turned from promising to disastrous.

The crash not only cost Hamilton valuable points in the standings but also raised fresh questions about Ferrari’s setup under pressure. Some analysts pointed to over-aggressive tire strategy, while others suggested the car’s rear instability caught Hamilton out as he pushed to the limit.

Meanwhile, the red flag disrupted the race order and set up a chaotic final restart that benefited several midfield teams — but left Ferrari fans stunned.

As the dust settles in Miami, Hamilton and his team are left to regroup after a weekend that promised glory but delivered heartbreak.
