Ferrari announce ‘fresh’ driver lineup change at Chinese Grand Prix
The Ferrari team will be eager to move on from a disastrous Australian Grand Prix and put it behind them as they head to Shanghai for the 2025 season. Their campaign in Melbourne got off to an embarrassing start, as they struggled to match the pace of McLaren during qualifying. Not only were they off the pace in terms of speed, but Ferrari made a critical error in strategy during the race. With rain starting to fall late in the race, the team left Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc out on slick tires, which quickly became a disastrous decision as conditions worsened. They were forced to pit too late to switch to wet weather tires, resulting in them finishing in P8 and P10, respectively. Hamilton only managed to secure a single point on his Ferrari debut.
During the race, Hamilton frequently asked his engineer to reduce the amount of information being relayed to him, as he felt there was too much communication from the team, especially with some initial difficulties in his partnership with his new race engineer, Riccardo Adami. These teething problems, combined with the team’s strategic mistakes, led to a disappointing weekend for Ferrari. However, the Italian team is determined to move forward and leave the past behind as they prepare for the Chinese Grand Prix. Ferrari is ready to regroup, correct their mistakes, and come back stronger.
In a bid to present a fresh image for the upcoming race in Shanghai, Ferrari unveiled a new look for their driver lineup, signaling a shift in their approach. On Instagram, the team shared a photo of Hamilton and Leclerc wearing new Ferrari-branded attire, with the caption “Fresh looks for the Chinese GP.” This new look departs from the usual red t-shirt covered in sponsor logos, which has become synonymous with the Ferrari brand. Instead, the team opted for a more refined and luxurious look, featuring polo shirts and a ¾ button-up design, in collaboration with their clothing partner Puma. The change in apparel signifies Ferrari’s desire to start anew and send a positive message about their commitment to excellence moving forward.
With a new aesthetic, a fresh perspective, and the intention to bounce back from their early-season troubles, Ferrari is hoping that their new approach will help them turn things around and perform at a much higher level in Shanghai. The team and its drivers are determined to recover from the disappointment of the Australian GP and show that they are still contenders for the season ahead. Ferrari’s focus will be on regaining their form and securing better results, starting with the race in C
