Former Red Bull Driver Sergio Perez FINALLY Reveals That…read more
Former Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez has made a startling revelation, admitting that he seriously considered retirement during the 2023 Formula One season due to a series of setbacks and intense internal pressure.
In a candid interview released this week, Perez opened up about the emotional and mental toll he faced while driving alongside three-time World Champion Max Verstappen. “There were moments in 2023 when I didn’t see a way forward,” he admitted. “The results weren’t coming, the media pressure was overwhelming, and I started questioning whether I still belonged in Formula One.”
Perez, who won two races in the first half of 2023 but then struggled with qualifying pace and consistency, faced growing scrutiny from both fans and team management. Rumors swirled throughout the paddock about his potential replacement, fueling speculation about his future with the team.
“The mental aspect was the toughest. I had to dig deep just to keep showing up and performing,” Perez revealed. “There were nights I thought about walking away for good.”
Ultimately, the Mexican driver finished the 2023 season in second place in the Drivers’ Championship, but the contrast between him and Verstappen was stark. Red Bull announced in late 2024 that Perez would not be returning for the 2025 season, ending his four-year stint with the team.
Despite the lows, Perez says he has no regrets. “I learned a lot about myself. Now, I’m exploring new opportunities with a fresh mindset.”
Perez has yet to confirm his next move, but rumors link him with a potential role at Audi’s 2026 F1 entry or a transition into team management.
