Hamilton McLaren BOMBSHELL emerges as star officially exits Mercedes….read more

A major revelation has emerged following Lewis Hamilton’s official departure from Mercedes, with speculation swirling about his future in Formula 1. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, has been with the Silver Arrows for 12 seasons, helping the team secure 14 titles across both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. However, the 2024 season finale in Abu Dhabi marked his final race with Mercedes, bringing an end to a legendary partnership.

While Hamilton’s time at Mercedes has been highly successful, it has not been without challenges. The 39-year-old endured one of his most difficult seasons in Formula 1 in 2024, often being outperformed by teammate George Russell and expressing frustration with the performance of his car. This has led many to speculate that Hamilton is seeking a fresh start with a team that could provide him with a more competitive chance at securing an elusive eighth world title. Ferrari, with its strong legacy and ambition, could be the team to help Hamilton achieve that goal.

Interestingly, despite the move to Ferrari, Hamilton’s shift away from Mercedes could have gone in a completely different direction. According to Stephen Lord, a long-time colleague of Hamilton’s and Mercedes’ Race Team Co-ordinator, there were discussions that suggested Hamilton might have considered a return to McLaren instead of switching to Ferrari. Speaking on the Beyond the Grid podcast, Lord shared that he expected Hamilton to go back to McLaren, having seen signs of this possibility in past conversations.

Lord revealed that Hamilton had often spoken about his belief that many drivers have a natural desire to race for Ferrari at some point in their careers. In fact, years ago, Hamilton expressed a strong affinity for the idea of a future with the Italian team, which ultimately led to his decision to join Ferrari for the 2025 season. Lord himself admitted that while he believed McLaren might be the destination for Hamilton, he was mistaken about the outcome.

Hamilton’s connection to McLaren is deep-rooted, as the British driver made his Formula 1 debut with the team in 2007. In his second season with McLaren, he claimed his first world championship in 2008, marking the team’s last drivers’ championship victory. This long history with McLaren added to the intrigue surrounding the possibility of a return, but instead, Hamilton’s focus has now shifted to Ferrari, where he hopes to add to his illustrious career and achieve that historic eighth title.

The departure from Mercedes marks the end of an era for both Hamilton and the team, as they look to move forward in different directions. While Hamilton’s future with Ferrari is still unfolding, the 2024 season will remain a significant chapter in his legacy, and fans around the world will be eager to see if his move to Ferrari will deliver the success he’s seeking.
