BREAKING NEWS:Lando Norris Admits to Costly Errors T…read more

Lando Norris admitted that errors throughout the weekend impacted his performance in Shanghai after securing third place on the grid for the Chinese Grand Prix. The McLaren driver struggled during the sprint race on Saturday morning and fell short of teammate Oscar Piastri, who clinched his first-ever Formula 1 pole position.

Mistake in Q3 Ruins Norris’ Pole Chances

During the final laps of Q3, Norris was attempting to surpass Piastri’s time but made a critical mistake, forcing him to abandon his run. As a result, Piastri held onto pole position, while George Russell edged him out for second place, preventing a McLaren front-row lockout.

Despite securing a strong starting position, Norris expressed his frustration. “I’m always disappointed when I don’t get pole,” he admitted. “Oscar has been performing brilliantly all weekend, and he deserves it. But I’ve made too many mistakes—it’s been a recurring issue for me this weekend.”

McLaren’s Progress Helped, But Challenges Remain

Norris had a difficult start to the weekend, finishing sixth in sprint qualifying and only managing eighth place in the sprint race. However, he praised McLaren for making key adjustments that improved the car’s performance, allowing him to feel more confident in qualifying.

“The car felt much better today,” he explained. “I was really struggling yesterday and even this morning, but we’ve made good progress in the right direction.”

Norris described the McLaren MCL39 as fast but challenging to control. “We know the car has great pace, but it can be tricky to manage at times,” he said.

As he looks ahead to Sunday’s race, Norris will aim to eliminate mistakes and fight for his second Grand Prix victory. With McLaren showing strong potential, the battle for the win promises to be intense.
