Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his main concern as he prepares to join Ferrari for the 2025 season. The British driver, who is leaving Mercedes after more than a decade, admitted that while he is excited for the new chapter, there are certain challenges he is already anticipating.
Speaking during an interview, Hamilton revealed that adapting quickly to Ferrari’s car and team dynamics is his top concern. “It’s always a big shift moving to a new team. I’ve been with Mercedes for so long that everything feels second nature. At Ferrari, I’ll need to build new relationships, understand the car’s unique traits, and settle into a new working culture,” he said.
Hamilton emphasized that while he respects the legacy and passion of Ferrari, he knows success won’t come overnight. “There’s a lot of hype, and I get it. It’s Ferrari. But I’m coming in with a realistic mindset. I want to win, of course, but I also want to help build something strong, something long-lasting.”
The switch to Ferrari has been one of the most talked-about moves in recent F1 history. Fans are eager to see if Hamilton can bring championship success back to the Italian team, which has not won a drivers’ title since 2007 with Kimi Räikkönen.
Hamilton also acknowledged the pressure of following in the footsteps of legendary drivers who have raced in red. “It’s a huge honour, but I also know the expectations are high. That’s part of what drives me.”
