Norris Fury After Qualifying Crash as Fan Favourite Confirms Saudi GP Absence

Lando Norris was left fuming after a dramatic crash during qualifying ended his chances of competing in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The McLaren star collided with the barriers in Q2, bringing out a red flag and prompting a furious reaction over team radio.

The incident occurred as Norris pushed hard on his flying lap, losing control through the high-speed Turn 22. Although he emerged unharmed, the damage to his car was significant enough to rule him out of Sunday’s race.

“I gave it everything, but we just didn’t get the balance right today,” Norris said post-session. “I’m gutted — not just for myself, but for the team and the fans who always show up in force here.”

The Briton’s frustration was evident as he exited the car, visibly angry with the outcome. It’s a major blow for McLaren, who had hoped to capitalize on recent performance gains under the lights of Jeddah.

Norris’ absence has sent shockwaves through the paddock, with many fans expressing disappointment on social media. As one of the most popular drivers on the grid, his withdrawal is a significant loss to the weekend’s spectacle.

McLaren has not announced whether a reserve driver will step in, but with limited preparation time, it’s unlikely the team will field a replacement.

The Saudi GP continues Sunday night, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen expected to lead the charge at the front of the grind.
