Ricciardo statement issued as A-list celebrity makes huge F1 decision

Daniel Ricciardo, once one of Formula 1’s most popular and charismatic drivers, gained even more fame after his appearance in the Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive. His fun-loving, down-to-earth personality captured the hearts of fans, and his marketability soared as a result. However, despite his widespread appeal, Ricciardo’s racing career in 2024 took a downturn, with his performances on the track continuing to decline. This ultimately led to his departure from the F1 grid, a place where he had once shone as a member of the Red Bull Racing family. Despite his popularity, Ricciardo has now shut down any hopes of making a return to Formula 1, indicating that he has no intention of rejoining the sport with another team.

While his on-track results may no longer match the highs of his earlier career, Ricciardo’s status as a beloved figure in motorsport continues to rise. His fanbase remains strong, not only due to his past successes but also because of his enduring charm and visibility off the track. Ricciardo’s presence in pop culture continues to grow, with notable figures from outside the motorsport world mentioning him in interviews.

One such instance came from English actor Harris Dickinson, known for his role in the film Babygirl. Dickinson, during a press tour for the film, was asked to choose between two iconic British events: Silverstone and Wimbledon. In his response, Dickinson revealed that he had recently attended the 2024 British Grand Prix, where he had the chance to meet Ricciardo in person. Dickinson explained that, at the time, he wasn’t fully immersed in the world of Formula 1. However, after meeting the Australian driver and another F1 star, he admitted that he didn’t fully appreciate the magnitude of the experience. Dickinson’s curiosity was piqued, so he went home, did further research, and watched Drive to Survive, which turned him into a fervent F1 fan.

Reflecting on his encounter, Dickinson expressed regret at not having been more knowledgeable about F1 when he met Ricciardo and the other drivers. He said that after becoming deeply interested in the sport, he wished he could have met the drivers when he was at the peak of his newfound fandom. His story highlights the widespread impact of Drive to Survive, which has converted many into F1 enthusiasts, even among people who may not have initially been interested in motorsport.

This revelation from Dickinson only adds to the growing cultural presence of Daniel Ricciardo, whose popularity now stretches beyond the racetrack and into the entertainment world. While Ricciardo’s F1 career may be on pause, his influence continues to be felt, whether through celebrity endorsements or through his continued relevance in popular c

ulture.
