BREAKING: Nico Hulkenberg Shares Verdict After Visiting Audi F1 F…read more

Following a strong start to his tenure at Sauber, Nico Hulkenberg recently visited Audi’s state-of-the-art Formula 1 facility in Neuburg, Germany, to inspect the progress of the German manufacturer’s in-house powertrain development for its 2026 debut in the sport.

The visit provided Hulkenberg with an up-close look at Audi’s F1 preparations, allowing him to assess the advancements in the power unit and engage with the engineers and personnel driving the ambitious project forward.

“I am impressed by what I have seen,” the 37-year-old German driver stated. “The facility demonstrates how seriously Audi takes F1.

“Everything Audi has done in motorsport has been executed with precision. After Adam Baker and Stefan Dreyer gave me a tour of the factory, I am excited by the progress the team has made on the 2026 power unit.

“It was a pleasure to talk to the people in Neuburg and feel their passion. They are all working tirelessly and with dedication to make this project a success. I’m proud to be a part of this journey and excited for the years ahead.”

Audi’s Expanding Motorsport Legacy

Neuburg currently houses over 400 staff members and has served as Audi’s motorsport hub for more than a decade. The facility has played a key role in the development of Audi’s race-winning programs in LMP1 (World Endurance Championship), DTM, Formula E, and Dakar Rally.

In 2022, the Competence Center Motorsport was expanded with an additional 3,000-square-meter building specifically dedicated to the F1 project. The Neuburg site will be responsible for designing and manufacturing Audi’s new Formula 1 power unit, while the chassis will be developed at Sauber’s facility in Hinwil, Switzerland.

With Audi set to take over the Sauber operation for the 2026 season, Hulkenberg will lead the team alongside young talent Gabriel Bortoleto, marking a new era for the German automotive giant in Formula 1.
