BREAKING: Norris Receives ‘Get in Line’ Warning as Verstappen L…read more

Lando Norris has been urged to accept a supporting role at McLaren as teammate Oscar Piastri surges into the spotlight during the early stages of the 2025 Formula 1 season. Former F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has advised Norris to “get in line” behind Piastri, who now leads the championship thanks to a calm and composed approach on track.

“Right now, Oscar’s the one delivering results,” Steiner commented following the Miami Grand Prix. “Lando needs to back him, not fight him. That’s how you keep momentum as a team.”

Norris began the season as one of the main title contenders, but it’s Piastri who has impressed with consistent performances and strategic clarity — including a strong showing in Miami that secured his position at the top of the drivers’ standings.

Despite the shift in momentum, Norris remains focused on his own progression.

“I’m not spending energy comparing myself to Oscar,” Norris said after the race. “He’s doing well, and I’m working on what I need to improve. That’s my priority.”

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen continues to cast a long shadow over the 2025 grid. With questions surrounding his long-term future at Red Bull, the prospect of the three-time world champion entering the McLaren fold or influencing its direction  adds another layer of uncertainty to the team’s evolving dynamic.

As things stand, McLaren’s momentum is with Piastri, leaving Norris with a tough task: step up fast or fall in line.
