Po… boss addresses fresh… concern – but two others definitely out of Leeds… Read More

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho has downplayed concerns over Josh Murphy’s injury, although two other players are confirmed to miss the season opener against Leeds.

Murphy, who was injured in the 43rd minute of a 2-0 defeat to Charlton, took a knock to his right ankle from a challenge by Charlton’s Kayne Ramsay.

Mousinho is hopeful Murphy, a summer recruit from Oxford United, will be fit for the Championship opener, describing the injury as a contact issue rather than a serious one.

In contrast, Tom McIntyre and new signing Jacob Farrell are both sidelined.

McIntyre sustained a hamstring injury against Wycombe, which has already caused him to miss the game against MK Dons, and Farrell injured his knee in training.

Both players are expected to be out for a couple of weeks and will not be available for the match against Leeds on August 10.

Mousinho emphasized the importance of careful treatment for Farrell, especially given his recent move from Australia and the need to settle in.
