BREAKING: Red Bull Bombarded with requests of D…read more
Red Bull Racing is facing strong fan backlash following a major change in their driver lineup, with many calling for Daniel Ricciardo to be reinstated.
Just two races into the 2025 season, Red Bull has already made a bold decision by demoting Liam Lawson to their junior team, Racing Bulls, after a disappointing start. This move has sparked frustration among fans, who have taken to social media to express their discontent and urge the team to bring back Ricciardo.
Lawson Demoted as Tsunoda Steps Up
Red Bull’s Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are no strangers to mid-season driver swaps, and their latest reshuffle reinforces their reputation for making ruthless decisions.
Despite showing promise when stepping in for Ricciardo in 2023, Lawson struggled in the opening two races of 2025, failing to score points in Australia and China. As a result, he has been sent back to Racing Bulls, while Yuki Tsunoda has been promoted to partner l Max Verstappen making him Verstappen’s sixth teammate in nine years.
The team officially announced the switch on Thursday, just ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix on April 6, but rumors had been circulating since the Shanghai GP, making the decision one of F1’s worst-kept secrets.
Social Media Erupts With Ricciardo Support
As soon as news of Lawson’s demotion broke, fans flooded TikTok and other platforms, demanding Ricciardo’s return.
One fan wrote: “Bring Daniel Ricciardo back.”
Another insisted: “He’s the only one who can drive Max’s car properly.”
A third referenced Ricciardo’s nickname, saying: “Please give the Honey Badger another chance.”
Many also criticized Red Bull for dropping Ricciardo last season, pointing out the irony of Lawson suffering a similar fate.
One user argued that Red Bull’s struggles could have been avoided: “If they never kicked out Danny, Red Bull would have always won the championship.”
Red Bull’s Title Hopes in Trouble
The team is already falling behind in the championship, currently sitting third and trailing Mercedes by 21 points. With Tsunoda now in Verstappen’s corner, Red Bull hopes to regain momentum.
However, with Ricciardo’s fan base as passionate as ever, the calls for his return are only getting louder. Whether Red Bull will reconsider remains uncertain, but the pressure from supporters isn’t going away anytime soon.
