Red Bull Boss Issues Update on Max Verstappen’s Future Amid Growing Speculation

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has addressed growing speculation surrounding the future of Max Verstappen, reaffirming the Dutch driver’s commitment to the team following his victory at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.

The 27-year-old defending Formula 1 world champion has experienced a challenging start to the 2025 season, sparking rumours of dissatisfaction within Red Bull and interest in a potential move to rival teams, including Mercedes and Aston Martin. Despite this, Horner insisted that Verstappen remains focused on performance and unity within the team.

“All year he’s been working hard behind the scenes. He’s been very supportive in the team,” Horner told reporters post-race. “There’s always a lot of noise outside of our team but never inside, and everybody is just focused on the job. Everybody is leaving Imola upbeat about the upcoming races.”

Verstappen, who recently welcomed his first child with partner Kelly Piquet, secured his second win of the season with a decisive overtake on championship leader Oscar Piastri at turn two — a move that proved pivotal in his dominant drive to the finish.

Despite a slow start to the year, Verstappen now sits third in the drivers’ standings, trailing behind Piastri and McLaren’s Lando Norris, heading into the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.

While neither Mercedes nor Aston Martin has confirmed any interest in signing Verstappen, his future remains a hot topic in the paddock. For now, Red Bull appears confident that their star driver is staying put, with Horner and the team brushing aside the “outside noise” and looking ahead to the rest of the season.
