Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko has once again stirred controversy in the Formula 1 paddock, this time directing harsh criticism at the FIA for what he calls “inconsistent and politically influenced” decision-making during recent races.
Speaking to Austrian media, Marko expressed frustration over penalties handed out to Red Bull drivers in the past few Grands Prix, particularly citing the stewards’ decisions in Australia and Japan. “We are seeing too many questionable rulings,” said Marko. “The FIA needs to be more transparent and consistent. Right now, it feels like they’re making it up as they go.”
Marko also suggested that political pressure within the sport might be influencing the stewards. “It’s no longer just about racing. There are too many external influences affecting what should be fair competition,” he added.
The FIA has yet to respond to Marko’s comments, but his statements have already sparked renewed debate among fans and analysts over the organization’s governance and officiating standards.
Marko is no stranger to controversy, often speaking his mind regardless of the consequences. With the championship battle heating up in 2025, tensions between teams and the FIA are likely to remain high.
