BREAKING: Sebastian Vettel Backs Star  for 2026 Cadillac F1 Comeback After…read more

Sebastian Vettel has voiced his support for Mick Schumacher as a top candidate to join Cadillac’s Formula 1 team when it enters the sport in 2026.

With the American outfit preparing for its highly anticipated debut as the 11th team on the grid, driver selection remains one of the few pieces yet to be finalized. Schumacher, who last raced in F1 with Haas in 2022, is reportedly among the names being seriously considered—and Vettel believes he’s ready for a second chance.

“I wish him well,” the four-time world champion told *Sport.de*. “We’re still in contact, and I saw how his time in F1 ended. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because I think he can absolutely hold his own. Mick is much more mature now and doing a great job at Alpine in the World Endurance Championship. It would be great to see him back with Cadillac.”

After winning the 2020 Formula 2 title, Schumacher spent two underwhelming seasons at Haas, scoring just 12 points before being released. He later joined Mercedes as a reserve driver for two years before stepping down in 2024 to focus on his WEC campaign with Alpine.

Still determined to return to F1, Schumacher has reportedly made a strong impression on Cadillac advisor Mario Andretti during recent talks. Andretti has stated the team would ideally have one American driver—likely Colton Herta—but also confirmed that Schumacher, along with veterans Sergio Perez and Daniel Ricciardo, is being considered for the second seat.

Schumacher’s presence at last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix further fueled speculation about his return. With backing from a respected figure like Vettel and growing momentum behind Cadillac’s entry, the possibility of Schumacher returning to the grid in 2026 is gaining real traction.
