Sky F1 Pundit Vicky Piria Robbed Ahead of Italian Grand Prix

Sky Sports Italia presenter Vicky Piria has revealed that she was the victim of a robbery in Milan earlier this week, just days before the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Sky provides Formula 1 coverage across several regions, including the UK, Germany, and Italy. Piria, who joined Sky Italia’s F1 team in 2024, shared on social media that her electric bicycle had been stolen in the Italian city, drawing widespread attention ahead of her home race weekend.

According to Piria, the incident happened on Monday when she left her Cannondale Mavaro e-bike, valued at roughly €1,000, securely locked. However, when she returned, she discovered that thieves had gone as far as breaking into the pavement to steal it. “This is Milan,” the 31-year-old wrote in frustration on Instagram. “You leave your bike locked to a pole for 30 minutes and when you come back, the bike is gone. They destroyed the pavement in the middle of the afternoon. I can’t take it anymore!”

The pundit immediately filed a complaint with the local authorities but admitted she felt both angry and helpless. She also posted photos, including one of the missing bike and another of Perugia, a city where she once lived. “I’m also posting a picture of Perugia because, besides being beautiful, when I lived there I never had to worry about going out, being robbed or mugged. I really miss that right now,” Piria continued.

Speaking later to Italian outlet MilanoToday, she expressed how attached she had been to the bicycle, saying: “I was very fond of that bicycle.”

This incident adds an unfortunate personal note to what is otherwise a busy week for Piria, as she prepares to cover one of the biggest events on the Italian sporting calendar.

Who is Vicky Piria?

For those unfamiliar, Vicky Piria is not only a TV pundit but also a professional racing driver with a strong background in motorsport. Born in Milan, Piria began her karting career back in 2003 before climbing through the junior ranks in Italy. By 2008 she was competing in the KF3 category and, a year later, made the transition into single-seater racing.

Her early career included part-time appearances in the Italian Formula 2000 Light and Formula Renault 2.0 championships in 2009. Piria later progressed to the GP3 Series (today’s Formula 3), where she raced full-time in 2012 with the Trident team. She also gained recognition competing in the W Series, the women-only championship that preceded the modern F1 Academy. During her time there, Piria secured a best finish of fifth place, underlining her competitiveness against international rivals.

Most recently, she turned her attention to GT racing, appearing in the Italian GT Championship. Alongside her commitments on track, Piria began working in broadcasting, starting out with Mediaset in the Formula E paddock. Her experience and presence soon earned her a bigger opportunity in Formula 1 media.

In 2024, she replaced Federica Masolin as a presenter for Sky Sports Italia’s F1 coverage, cementing her role as one of the prominent female voices in Italian motorsport broadcasting.

Although the theft was a frustrating setback, Piria remains focused on her professional duties at Monza. As both a racer and a pundit, she brings valuable insight to F1 fans in Italy, and despite the challenges, she continues to play an influential role in the sport both on and off the track.
