Three Leeds United players who could leave Elland Road before summer transfer window closes. Full story πŸ‘‡

Leeds United’s 2024/25 Championship season began with an eventful 3-3 draw against Portsmouth at Elland Road. The match saw Mateo Joseph start his first league game, and Jayden Bogle make his debut for the Whites after joining from Sheffield United. With the transfer window still open, Leeds may see more player movement, both incoming and outgoing, as Daniel Farke’s team aims to secure promotion to the Premier League after narrowly missing out last season. Leeds Live has highlighted three players who could leave Elland Road before the summer transfer window closes.

Max Wober

Austrian international Max Wober has been a topic of speculation regarding a possible departure from Leeds. Farke has praised Wober since his return to the club, but there have been rumors linking the defender with a move away. Wober spent the previous season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, and there were discussions about making the move permanent. However, a deal between the two clubs could not be reached, and Wober has since been reintegrated into Farke’s squad.

Farke acknowledged earlier this summer that both Wober and Brenden Aaronson were eager to return to Leeds and were determined to repay the club’s faith in them. Farke emphasized the importance of hard work and strong performances for both players as they work to get back into top form after returning late due to their participation in tournaments.

Although Wober is currently part of Farke’s plans, the possibility of a late move cannot be ruled out, especially if an appealing offer comes in before the window closes.

Joe Gelhardt

Young forward Joe Gelhardt has struggled to secure a regular spot in Leeds’ starting lineup under Daniel Farke. Last season, Gelhardt made just 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring only once in the Carabao Cup against Shrewsbury. The 22-year-old was linked with a loan move in January, but ultimately remained at Elland Road, playing only 72 minutes of senior football after the transfer window closed.

Gelhardt had a loan spell at Sunderland in 2023, which provided him with valuable Championship experience. Another loan move this summer could be beneficial for his development, allowing him to gain more playing time. With two years left on his contract, a decision needs to be made soon regarding Gelhardt’s future. A successful loan spell could either boost his chances of breaking into Leeds’ first team or increase his market value, making him a more attractive asset for potential buyers.

Willy Gnonto

Wilfried Gnonto’s situation at Leeds has been the subject of much speculation. Last summer, the Italian international expressed a desire to leave the club and attempted to force a move to Everton. The Premier League side remains interested in Gnonto this summer, but Leeds have already rejected an initial approach from the Toffees.

Leeds are in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a potential transfer for Gnonto, as they hold the cards in terms of his valuation. However, if an offer in the region of Β£30 million comes in, it would be difficult for the club to turn down. Such a sale would provide Farke with additional funds to reinvest in the squad, though losing Gnonto would be a significant blow, especially following the recent departure of Crysencio Summerville. The loss of two key players would leave Farke with major gaps to fill in his team.

As the transfer window draws to a close, these three players could still leave Elland Road, depending on the offers that come in and the club’s ability to bring in suitable replacements.
