Breaking:Aston Martin star Withdraws from Spanish Grand Prix Due to Ongoing…read more

The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has officially announced that Lance Stroll will not participate in Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix, citing medical concerns. The Canadian driver, who was set to start from 14th on the grid, has been experiencing increasing pain in his hand and wrist, prompting the decision to withdraw him from the race.

According to a statement released by Aston Martin, the discomfort Stroll has been enduring over the past six weeks is believed to be linked to a surgical procedure he underwent before the 2023 F1 season. Medical professionals advising the team suspect that the current complications are related to that earlier intervention.

Stroll’s history with wrist injuries traces back to a cycling accident in February 2023, ahead of the start of that year’s season. The crash left him with multiple injuries, including fractured wrists, and forced him to miss pre-season testing. However, he made a swift return for the opening race in Bahrain and has consistently competed in every Grand Prix since then — until now.

Despite managing to race through the discomfort for several weeks, the recurring pain has now reached a level that requires further medical attention. Aston Martin confirmed that Stroll will undergo a new procedure aimed at resolving the lingering wrist issues. His medical team has advised a period of recovery, ruling him out of this weekend’s race.

“Over the course of the past six weeks, Lance has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023,” Aston Martin stated. “As a result, his medical team have confirmed that he will not race tomorrow and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery.”

Notably, Aston Martin will not be fielding a substitute driver for the Spanish Grand Prix. Under F1 regulations, a driver must participate in qualifying to be eligible to compete in the race itself, and no replacement had taken part in Saturday’s session. This leaves the team with only one car on the grid for Sunday’s event.

Stroll has been a key contributor to Aston Martin’s 2025 campaign so far, having scored all 14 of the team’s championship points. His absence marks a significant blow for the British outfit as they aim to maintain competitiveness in the constructors’ standings.

The team has not provided a specific timeline for Stroll’s return but emphasized that his recovery will be the priority moving forward. Fans and team members alike will be hoping for a speedy and full recovery for the 25-year-old driver.
