Breaking:Ferrari Boss Reveals When Lewis Hamilton Will Make Historic Debut with Scuderia

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has provided a significant update on when Lewis Hamilton could make his debut for the Scuderia, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the legendary driver’s career. After spending 12 highly successful years at Mercedes, where he became the most successful driver in Formula 1 history, Hamilton is set to join Ferrari, the most iconic team in the sport’s history. However, his eagerly anticipated debut has faced some delays.

Hamilton’s debut with Ferrari was originally expected to take place during the end-of-season tyre test in Abu Dhabi, but this was pushed back. The British driver chose to participate in Mercedes’ sponsor duties rather than take part in the test, further delaying the moment he would step into the Ferrari car. Now, fans and pundits alike are eagerly awaiting the day Hamilton will first drive a Ferrari and get a taste of what it feels like to represent one of the sport’s most storied teams.

While Hamilton’s debut was postponed, Vasseur, who was Hamilton’s former GP2 team principal, has now provided a clearer picture of when the seven-time world champion could first get behind the wheel of a Ferrari. According to Vasseur, Hamilton will be allowed to drive Ferrari’s previous cars before the official pre-season test in Bahrain, as part of the Formula 1’s testing of previous cars program (TPC). This will give Hamilton the opportunity to familiarize himself with Ferrari’s machinery and adapt to the team’s unique setup before the high-pressure pre-season testing kicks off.

Vasseur revealed that the test sessions at Ferrari’s Fiorano track, located near the team’s headquarters in Maranello, will depend heavily on the weather. The team is hoping for suitable conditions that would allow Hamilton to run the older Ferrari cars. “Probably yes, but we are dependent on the weather, it’s not easy in January,” Vasseur said in a recent interview. Fiorano’s weather in January can often be unpredictable, and there is a risk of cold, wet conditions that could limit the amount of track time Hamilton would get.

Despite the emotional nature of Hamilton’s Ferrari debut, Vasseur emphasized the importance of focusing on the task at hand. “It’s true that it’s quite emotional because I think he has this moment in his mind for probably 20 years,” Vasseur admitted. “That means it will be emotional – but it has to be emotional for one lap and then to be focused!” It’s clear that while Hamilton’s first laps in the Ferrari car will be a moment of nostalgia, he will need to quickly transition into a focused, professional mindset to prepare for the competitive challenges ahead.

The team’s winter plans are already in motion. Vasseur explained that Ferrari’s pre-season schedule is tightly packed, with the first test days involving the TPC and Pirelli tests, followed by the car launch event on February 19th. Just after that, Ferrari will travel to Bahrain for the official pre-season testing, where Hamilton will have his first proper opportunity to drive a Ferrari car in competitive conditions.

The pre-season period will be particularly intense for Ferrari, with a short preparation phase ahead of the opening race in Melbourne. Vasseur acknowledged that there will be only about four weeks between the factory preparations and the start of the championship, making for a fast-paced lead-up to the 2025 season. Despite the limited time for preparation, Vasseur remains optimistic that everything will come together in time.

As for Hamilton, the opportunity to drive for Ferrari represents a new chapter in his illustrious career. Joining the Maranello outfit is not only a major personal achievement for the driver but also a huge moment for Formula 1. Hamilton’s ambition to secure an eighth world title, breaking his current tie with Michael Schumacher for the most championships in F1 history, will add further excitement to the already high expectations surrounding Ferrari’s 2025 campaign.

Fans of both Ferrari and Hamilton will be watching closely as the new season approaches, with the first official tests just around the c

orner in Bahrain.
