BREAKING:Ferrari F1 Boss Fred Vasseur Discusses Lewis Hamilton’s Evolution and Demanding N…read more

Ferrari F1 team principal Fred Vasseur has opened up about how Lewis Hamilton has evolved over the years, both as a driver and as an individual, since their early days together in Formula 3 and GP2. The seven-time world champion raced under Vasseur’s guidance in both junior categories, securing victories in both championships before moving to Formula 1 with McLaren.

Now, nearly 20 years later, the pair have reunited at Ferrari, with Vasseur sharing insights into Hamilton’s work ethic and leadership style. In an interview with L’Equipe, Vasseur praised Hamilton’s legendary dedication, admitting that while the British driver has remained highly demanding, it is his exacting nature that has propelled both himself and those around him to higher standards.

“Lewis has always been extremely demanding,” Vasseur explained. “He’s always the first to go running in the morning, the first to exercise. That’s his trademark, and he has kept that mindset. By pushing himself, he also pushes everyone else to deliver their best.”

Vasseur also acknowledged that Hamilton’s approach is unique compared to other top teams in Formula 1, such as Mercedes and Red Bull. “We don’t do things like other teams,” he said. “But despite these differences, we all end up fighting in the same tenth of a second.”

Hamilton’s start at Ferrari has been less than ideal, with only one point from his first two full-length races. A stunning sprint race victory at the Chinese Grand Prix was marred by a disqualification from the main race, alongside teammate Charles Leclerc, for separate violations. As a result, Ferrari currently sits fifth in the constructors’ standings, with only 17 points after the opening two Grand Prix weekends.

Despite the challenges, Vasseur remains optimistic about Hamilton’s influence on the team. “His background and his unique perspective help us approach things differently, and that helps us grow as a team,” Vasseur concluded.
