The FIA has released an official ruling following an investigation into Ferrari’s handling of Charles Leclerc’s tyres during the opening practice session of the 2025 Imola Grand Prix. The incident centered around a breach of Technical Directive 003Q 2.g.ii, specifically related to the improper adjustment of tyre pressures while the car was stationary in the garage.

Following the session, a Ferrari team representative was summoned by the stewards to explain the procedure used when Leclerc’s tyre pressures were modified. According to the Technical Directive in question, if a team intends to reuse a tyre during the same session and make adjustments—such as reducing tyre pressure—they must first ensure the tyres have reached a specified temperature. This requirement is set to ensure safety and preserve the integrity of the tyres under competitive conditions.

In this case, Ferrari acknowledged that they had failed to meet this requirement, admitting that the tyre temperatures were not obtained prior to the pressure adjustment. As a result, the stewards ruled that Ferrari had violated Article 30.5 a) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations. Despite the breach, the stewards noted that the incident occurred during a free practice session and did not provide a direct sporting advantage or compromise safety on track.

Considering the context and precedent of similar past infractions, the FIA imposed a financial penalty rather than a sporting one. Ferrari received a €5,000 fine for the regulatory breach, with no further penalties applied to Leclerc or the team in terms of grid positions or session exclusions.

In their official statement, the FIA emphasized that the enforcement of such technical procedures is essential to maintaining consistency and fairness across the grid. “The team representative admitted that these procedures were not followed,” the FIA stated. “The Stewards note that this was during a Free Practice session
