FIA Confirms No Penalty for Lewis Hamilton After Spanish Grand Prix Incident

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has concluded its investigation into the on-track incident involving Lewis Hamilton during the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, determining that no penalty will be imposed on the seven-time world champion.

The incident occurred during the race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Hamilton, now driving for Scuderia Ferrari, was involved in a close battle that drew the attention of race stewards. After a thorough review, the FIA deemed the event a racing incident, requiring no further action.

This decision comes amidst a challenging season for Hamilton, who has faced scrutiny over various on-track encounters. Notably, earlier in the season, the FIA investigated a collision between Hamilton and Carlos Sainz during the Miami Grand Prix but similarly opted not to penalize either driver, citing shared responsibility for the incident .

The Spanish Grand Prix also featured significant regulatory changes, including a new technical directive aimed at reducing the flexibility of front wings. Hamilton voiced his concerns over the rule change, labeling it a “waste of money” and questioning its impact on the competition .

Despite the absence of penalties, Hamilton’s performance in Spain was less than stellar. He described the race as “the worst I’ve experienced,” highlighting ongoing struggles with his car’s setup and overall competitiveness .

As the season progresses, Hamilton and Ferrari will aim to address these challenges and improve their standings in both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships. The FIA’s decision to forgo penalties allows Hamilton to focus on upcoming races without the burden of disciplinary actions.
