FIA Issues Disqualification Verdict for Max Verstappen Ahead of Australian Grand Prix

In a significant development ahead of the 2025 Australian Grand Prix, the FIA has disqualified Max Verstappen from the event following a collision with George during the race. The incident occurred at Turn 2, where Verstappen, attempting an overtake, made contact with  Russell’s car, leading to drivers  penalty points

The race stewards conducted a thorough investigation, reviewing video evidence and hearing testimonies from both drivers and their teams. The stewards concluded that Verstappen was predominantly at fault for the collision, citing that he attempted a late manoeuvre without being sufficiently alongside Russell’s car to warrant racing room.

As a result, Verstappen has been disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix, marking a rare and severe penalty in Formula 1. This decision has significant implications for the championship standings, as Verstappen loses valuable points in the early stages of the season.

The disqualification also underscores the FIA’s commitment to enforcing racing regulations and ensuring driver safety. It serves as a reminder that aggressive driving tactics, even from top contenders, will be scrutinized and penalized when necessary.

Looking ahead, Verstappen and the Red Bull team will need to regroup and focus on the upcoming races to recover from this setback. The disqualification adds an unexpected twist to the championship battle, intensifying the competition among the leading teams and drivers.
