FIA Launches Investigation into Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari After …read more

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has initiated an investigation into Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari after a significant performance decline during the Spanish Grand Prix. Despite outqualifying teammate Charles Leclerc, Hamilton’s pace deteriorated during the race, culminating in a sixth-place finish, while Leclerc secured a podium spot.

Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, expressed concerns over Hamilton’s unexpected drop in performance, particularly during the final stint of the race. He noted that while the car’s pace was acceptable earlier, issues arose towards the end, prompting the need for a thorough analysis. Vasseur mentioned that Hamilton experienced a problem before the safety car period but refrained from providing specific details.

In addition to Ferrari’s internal investigation, the FIA has also been scrutinizing Hamilton’s performance. During the Spanish Grand Prix qualifying session, Hamilton was among three drivers investigated for allegedly exceeding the 1:25.0 time limit between the Safety Car lines, a potential breach of Article 33.4 of the FIA Formula One sporting regulations. However, the FIA concluded that no further action was necessary regarding this matter.

Hamilton’s recent performances have raised concerns, especially following his disqualification from the Chinese Grand Prix earlier this season due to excessive skid block wear. These incidents have contributed to Ferrari’s challenges in the Constructors’ Championship and have placed Hamilton 23 points behind Leclerc in the Drivers’ standings.

As the FIA and Ferrari continue their investigations, the focus remains on identifying and resolving the issues affecting Hamilton’s performance to ensure competitiveness in the upcoming races.
